The root of it all
In 12th Century Wales a young boy, Peter of Camros, is ordained into the Priesthood, but when his family are ruthlessly killed he puts aside holy duties. He turns his life to seek the knighthood that is his birthright. Travelling to France, Peter becomes squire to Guy De Hautford, but quickly gains an enemy in the son. Worse still, he becomes enthralled with his master’s young wife, the beautiful Ada, and is soon exiled from the kingdom.
The terrible loss that follows leaves his life out of control. Soon Peter is fighting for any who will pay. Unable to choose his battles, the young knight must do what he can to get by. With nothing to guide him, he helps steal a precious object. Only later does he discover it is one that his father had fought to protect. How can he make sure it is returned to its rightful owners and gain redemption? He hides the key, buried in the depths of what is recorded of his life, leaving it waiting for someone who understands how a knight would have acted.
