Summary

The life of
Marc Lucas is instantly destroyed when a car crash kills his wife and their unborn child. Desperate to rid himself of the nightmare of the accident, he signs up to an experiment that promises to banish his memories entirely. Eventually he declines the procedure but, as strange things start to happen, he begins to wonder whether he has been the victim of some illicit tests.
Emma Ludwig, a fellow victim, has also had her world turned upside down. She seeks him out, convinced that this has only happened to her since refusing the procedure. Together, they endeavour to unravel the puzzle of the havoc created with their lives.
Constantine Senner, Marc’s father in law, maintains he has Marc’s best interests at heart. However he refuses to listen to Marc’s protests that his wife is still alive. His solution is to prescribe powerful anti-psychotic hallucinogens, and Marc has to question whether he too is involved in the conspiracy. His brother,
Benny, tries to help but he has his own troubles in the form of a local loan shark. As the truth is slowly revealed, Marc must ask himself one fundamental question, “How do I know I really exist?”.
